| Commitment to Community |

"I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die. For the harder I work the more I live. Life is no brief candle to me. It's a sort of splendid torch which I've got to hold up for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."
- George Bernard Shaw, Irish playwright
While making plans for our church in Fallston we envisioned connecting with the community and creating a place where the community might come together. We make our church available to groups that meet community needs. A congregation does not stand in isolation of the community if they are to serve humankind. |

| Helen Coon Memorial Fund |

| When our benefactor, Helen Coon, left us enough money to build a church, we agreed to set aside some of the money for Commuity Outreach to honor Helen and her own example volunteer support in the community. The Helen Coon Memorial Fund is set up to use a portion of fund income for Community Outreach Projects. Congregation members and committees are called on to submit outreach proposals. A proposal may be for a grant to a community organization, community program, or to a church committee or congregational group to carry out a project to benefit the community. Community Outreach Project proposals are presented at the annual business meeting to decide which proposals will be funded. |
